“You Are What You Eat!”

John 6:35 ~ “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”~

Galatians 5:22-23 ~ “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”~

Luke 4:4 ~”And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”~

Happy New Year *Y’all! I pray that this message blesses your spirit! This morning as I was running on the tread mill, I began to think about how so many of us put so much into making our physical bodies healthier and stronger. I mean some of us have the calories of the food we place in our mouths calculated down to the last crumb. Some of us take multi-vitamins, drink plenty of water, and lift umpteen pounds of weights to make our muscles stronger. So many people invest hours of time into developing their bodies.

How many of *y’all know that we have to do the same things for our Spirit man? That we have to also watch what we feed our spirits; for example, if you hang around someone who always talks about others you may be prone to talk about others too, if you hang around someone who curses all the time, then you may be prone to curse too, if you hang around someone who is always miserable then you will probably be miserable too. If all you ever consume are things that are about violence and vulgarity, then you probably participate in those types of mean- spirited activities too. I say all of this to let you know that we have to be just as careful about what we place in our spirits as we do our physical bodies. Yes, God wants us to take care of our physical bodies too, but just like with anything else without God a healthy body without a healthy spirit is a recipe for disaster.

How many of *y’all know someone that appears to have it all together on the outside, but on the inside they are rotten? It seems like everything that spews out of them is foul and putrid? How many of *y’all know someone who dines on the Word only on Sundays, but during the rest of the week they dine on drama? Well according to the Word of God, He wants us to bear good fruit at ALL times not when it’s convenient for us. He understands that we are not perfect, and that we will slip occasionally, but if you are calling yourself a Child of God and all you dine on is hate, anger, un-forgiveness, and malice, then you need to focus on changing your diet and pick up the menu (The Holy Bible) and feed your spirit with the proper nutrients, (fruits of the Spirit). In this daily spiritual battle God is not looking for sometimey, weak, and out of shape Christians. He wants strong, healthy, and powerful people who will run the distance, not someone who will give out of breath after a few miles.

If you are someone who is struggling in feeding your spirit with the proper ingredients, then try reading the Bible daily, fasting, praying, and try dining with other people who have the same diet as you. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I do know that we are what we eat, and if you feed your spirit the proper things then you will pass the endurance test, and make it to the finish line to see our Heavenly Father (Jesus)!

Can anyone out there relate?

Be Blessed *Y'all!
